About This Solo:
---------------------------
This 80s melodic rock solo in the key of D minor took a while to assemble! In other words, I had to level up, both in playing and editing skills, to make everything work. e.g., playing the sweep-picking part 'cleanly' took more practice than anticipated. In fact, I re-recorded the entire video because I wasn't happy with my first performance. Although - obviously - a lot can be corrected in the 'editing' phase, I like to keep these edits to a minimum to keep things 'real' for you guys! Hopefully, this 80s game-style solo, called 'Arcade' is as fun and inspiring for you as it was for me! Stick around for the 8bit outro 😉

Gear:
---------
-Guitar: Suhr Modern Pro
-Amps: Fractal AX8
-Bass: Spectrasonics Trilian
-Drums: Steven Slate 5.5

I had a lot of fun making this video, & I sincerely hope that this video will provide you with some guitar inspiration for your own playing!

Ready to level up your skills with a rippin’ 80s Game Rock Solo? Look no further!

This D minor guitar solo, clocking in at a fierce 155 BPM, takes inspiration from legendary hard rock and heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and Stratovarius, but with a twist: I drew some inspiration from some of my favorite arcade boss fights!

Crafting this 80s game solo wasn’t a walk in the park. It took serious practice, both in playing and editing, to master those sweep-picking sections. In fact, I even had to level up my recording game, re-recording the entire video to nail the performance (you know, gotta keep it real for you guitar players!). But the sweat was worth it.

This 80s game rock solo, dubbed “Arcade,” is a beast, ready to unleash its fury on your speakers. Trust me, it’s just as fun and inspiring to play as it is to hear.

The 8-bit version of the solo (video-outro)

I know this is a bit of a gimmick, but I wanted to see If my guitar solo would work as an 8-bit game melody. Here is the 8-bit version I composed with the Magical 8-bit plugin. This was too much fun 🙂
